Skinos® Mastiha - Truly Mediterranean Spirit

Skinos is currently one the fastest growing spirits in the Greek market and is already succesfully exported in over than 15 countries woldwide. Skinos is made from the "teardrops" of the mastiha trees on the beautiful and fragrant Mediterranean island of Chios in the Aegean Sea. Mastiha - found by Hippocates and first recorded by Herodotus - has always been considered a delicacy and the most cosmopolitan product of the Mediterranean.

Chilled, Skinos® has been savoured as a superb digestive for centuries but it also makes delicious, unique and refreshing Mediterranean cocktails.

From the Mediterranean island of Chios, Skinos® Mastiha Spirit has been appreciated around the globe for over 3,000 years.

The island's mild climate, the underwater volcanoes, the bubbling hot springs and lime-rich soil combines the exact same conditions as ancient harvesting of the mastic tree.

From as early as 600 BC, mastiha spirit has traveled to Genoa, Istanbul, Athens and the world as a rinking delicacy and an excellent digestive.

Today, Skinos® Mastiha Spirit adopts the same traditional harvesting and distillation process and creates a unique product, ideal to drink chilled before or after diner. Mastiha is made out of mastic tree resin (Pistacia lentiscus), mediterranean bush of the Anacardiaceae family.

It is from this resin that mankind has discovered the first natural chewing gum.
